We had the opportunity to contribute to the success of Frameless, a ground-breaking, multi-dimensional immersive art experience located in Marble Arch, London. In this case study, we will outline the challenges faced during the project and the solutions we provided to overcome these obstacles.
Frameless is a unique and innovative 30,000 square foot venue that combines high-resolution projection technology with an extraordinary audio system to create a breath-taking cultural experience. With over 479 million pixels projected by powerful lumens and accompanied by classical and contemporary music played through 158 state-of-the-art surround sound speakers, Frameless is the largest immersive art experience of its kind in the United Kingdom.
The primary challenges faced in this project were related to the installation and management of the HVAC system. The powerful projectors used in Frameless generate a significant amount of heat, which requires a robust ductwork system to prevent overheating and ensure optimal performance. Additionally, the installation of the ductwork at high elevations presented safety concerns that needed to be addressed.
Our company was contracted to design, manufacture, and install the HVAC system for the Frameless venue. To overcome the challenges posed by this project, we first developed purpose-built scaffolding and utilised scissor lifts to safely install ductwork at high elevations. Second, we employed cutting-edge manufacturing techniques and high-quality ducting materials to create an efficient ductwork system capable of managing the significant airflow and heat produced by the projectors. Lastly, we wrapped the ductwork in fire-rated cloth to enhance fire resistance properties, reducing the risk of fire spreading throughout the building and providing an additional layer of safety for visitors and staff.
Our custom HVAC solution proved to be highly effective, maintaining optimal temperatures for the projectors and ensuring their peak performance. The ductwork system we designed and installed successfully managed the large volume of air and heat generated by the projectors, allowing Frameless to deliver the immersive art experience at its full potential.
Visitors to Frameless can now enjoy the stunning visuals and audio without any disruptions, thanks to our seamless and unobtrusive HVAC installation.
